He completed his MBBS from Pt. J. N. M. Medical College, Raipur (2015) and pursued DNB in General Medicine from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi (2019). After completing his DM in Infectious Diseases in 2023, he continued working at the Department of Infectious Diseases at Christian Medical College Vellore, where he played an instrumental role in establishing a specialized Travel and Transplant Vaccination Clinic and contributed to the formulation of institutional and state-level antibiotic stewardship and antimicrobial policy guidelines.

He is particularly involved in patients with fever of unknown origin (PUO), rare infections and difficult-to-diagnose infectious conditions. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Shakeel remains actively engaged in academic research and teaching. His research and publications have addressed important and unusual infectious disease presentations, including central nervous system histoplasmosis, rare presentations of fascioliasis, atypical Neisseria infections, and secondary syphilis in returning travelers.
