Dr. Varun Premprakash Bhatia

Dr. Varun Bhatia is an accomplished interventional cardiologist with over seven years of experience, specializing in transcatheter valve therapies and structural heart interventions. He completed his medical graduation from the prestigious Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, followed by an MD in General Medicine from Government Medical College Surat. He subsequently pursued his super-specialty training in cardiology at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai. To further refine his expertise in transcatheter valve therapies, Dr. Bhatia completed an advanced fellowship in transcatheter valve interventions at the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Center, Budapest, Hungary, and Clinique Pasteur, Toulouse, France—both internationally renowned centers for pioneering work in structural and transcatheter valve therapies. He has also undergone advanced training in structural heart interventions including Mitral and Tricuspid Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER) and Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) at the Institute for Advanced Cardiac Sciences at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, United States. Dr. Bhatia has a strong focus on cutting-edge minimally invasive cardiovascular therapies and structural heart disease management. His expertise includes Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), MitraClip therapy, Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure, Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC), and complex coronary interventions. He routinely incorporates advanced intravascular imaging such as Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to optimize outcomes during percutaneous coronary interventions. Dr. Bhatia is also experienced in the use of advanced calcium-modification technologies for complex coronary artery disease, including rotational atherectomy (Rota), orbital atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy (IVL), and excimer laser coronary atherectomy (ELCA).
