Dr. Mallikarjuna Hunasaghatta Mallapa

Dr. Mallikarjun H.M. is a highly experienced Nephrologist and Kidney Transplant specialist with over 19 years of expertise in managing complex kidney disorders and advanced renal care. He currently serves as Additional Director in the Department of Nephrology & Kidney Transplant. Dr. Mallikarjun has extensive experience in treating patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and works actively to prevent disease progression through early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment strategies. Areas of Expertise Dr. Mallikarjun specialises in the diagnosis and management of: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Diabetic Kidney Disease Glomerular Diseases Urinary Tract Infections Hypertension related to kidney disease Renal biopsy Kidney transplantation Dialysis therapies including Haemodialysis, CAPD, SLED, and CRRT He also manages kidney complications related to heart diseases and systemic disorders, providing comprehensive nephrology care. Clinical & Research Experience Dr. Mallikarjun has actively contributed to clinical research and global trials as a co-investigator, focusing on therapies aimed at slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease and managing renal-related anaemia. He has also undergone international training at the Asia Nephrology Transplant Forum in Bangkok, where he received specialised training in: Bedside CAPD catheter insertion Permacath insertion procedures.

Academic Contributions Dr. Mallikarjun has presented research at numerous national and international conferences and published scientific papers in nephrology journals. He has also authored a chapter titled: “Sleep Disorders in Chronic Kidney Disease” in a postgraduate nephrology publication.
